Feed the Need began in the fall of 2013 when a group of concerned Ocean Springs citizens decided to band together and do a little something extra for their local soup kitchen. The fundraising group decided to host a booth at the Peter Anderson Festival to sell donated art, a fabulous T-shirt designed by local renowned artist Chris Stebly, and to raise awareness about the outstanding work done by The Lord Is My Help soup kitchen in our own backyard each and every day. The booth was so successful that the group decided to carry on the momentum started and to host a full fundraiser in the summer of 2014 titled "Feed the Need." The fundraiser was hosted by The Government Street Grocery and included a fish fry and silent auction plus a full day of music, fun, and most importantly giving back. All proceeds of Feed the Need fundraisers and events directly benefit The Lord Is My Help soup kitchen.
Feed the Need 2020 will be held at The Government Street Grocery on Sunday, April 19th from 11am - 6:30pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Once tickets go on sale they may be purchased at a number of local businesses including: The Greenhouse on Porter, Hillyer House, The Government Street Grocery, PrescriptFit Medical Nutrition Therapy, and Eat Drink Love Catering. Each ticket includes full-day entry to the event and 1 fish plate. Musical entertainment will be provided by Della Memoria, Symone French, Hello Good Buddie, Royal Horses, and Cary Hudson & Katrina Miller. In addition to the music, food, and fun we will also have T-shirts for sale, a silent auction, raffle basket and an extra special kids area & more... .
