FEED THE NEED 2023 PRESS RELEASE

Ocean Springs, MS -  A local group of friends and volunteers are in their final preparations for the 9th Annual FEED THE NEED benefit concert and fish fry, an annual fundraiser in downtown Ocean Springs. This year’s event will take place Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 11:00  a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Government Street Grocery. All proceeds will benefit The Lord Is My Help Food Kitchen, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization which feeds over 5,200 meals each month to disadvantaged members of our community.

This year's all-star lineup includes the critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Cary Hudson, the popular band Royal Horses, and local favorites Symone French, and Brooks Hubbert.

Feed the Need is a grassroots organization developed by a group of friends in 2014 after concerns for the local soup kitchen arose. “We are really looking forward to hosting the 2023 Feed the Need Benefit Concert & Fish Fry. We love this event because it’s a way for us to share the work that Lord is my Help is doing with our community. We have this fun and exciting day with friends and family and we get to raise awareness about hunger in our community and how we can help at the same time.” said Feed the Need committee member and Lord Is My Help board member Sarah Reese. “The Feed the Need Committee’s mission is to provide financial support through community events  benefitting the Lord Is My Help. We ultimately came up with the music festival and fish fry, which is so fun! We are 100% volunteer-based and we’ve built a fundraiser that brings the community together to help those in need...and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Feed the Need committee member and Lord Is My Help board member Kait Sukiennik.  

This year’s event will be filled with family-friendly activities including a fish fry, live music, a kids play area, silent auction items, and raffle baskets. Tickets to the event are on sale now - only $20 in advance - and can be purchased from both committee members and local businesses such as The Government Street Grocery, Eat Drink Love Catering, and Hillyer House in Ocean Springs. Tickets will also be available to purchase online through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/9th-annual-feed-the-need-music-festival-and-fish-fry-tickets-575059657917?aff=erelexpmlt.  The price will increase to $30 at the door or $20 with the donation of a #10 canned good item.

The Lord Is My Help is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.  Locally, The Lord Is My Help is an advocate for the needy, homeless, hungry, ill, disabled, & homebound. The Lord Is My Help serves approximately 3,200 meals each month, impacting over 120 households each day. Volunteers deliver over 100 meals per day, 5 days a week, to the elderly, ill, and disabled in the community. They also operate a Food Pantry service 5 days a week for those in need. The Lord Is My Help is located at 1205 Desoto Street in Ocean Springs.
